In the current political and economic climate, farmers are protesting against the pressures placed upon them to provide ‘everything all at once’ for society. The business model aims to provide an equitable, accessible local market opportunity for a low carbon, low input and profitable alternative crop to arable growers of all scales. The inclusion of intercrops as a biodiversity enhancement measure in future subsidy regimes as a public good provides further incentive.

Positioned between grower and buyer, AgriLibra provides benefits to both parties and delivers disruptive impact in the farming sector through translation of applied science by commercialisation, linking the aims of Maltsters/Distillers and Scottish & UK governmental goals whilst facilitating intercrop marketing solutions for primary producers.
The reduced carbon element to the system Agri Libra proposes provides enhanced credentials for corporate buyers with net zero targets and offers an opportunity to gain added value over and above current commodity market levels – and allows us to pass the value back down to the growers as a contract premium.
As a proposed spin out from The James Hutton Institute, AgriLibra, an aggregator and processor of mixed grains, our mission is to provide a viable market option for profitable low input intercrops for farmers, complimentary to regenerative agriculture principles.

Proposing flexible options for sale based on tonnage or contract area basis linked to feed barley price.
We are seeking interested growers to help us with our pilot project for 2026/2027
